Beyond 9-to-5: Embracing My Dual Identity as a Crocheter and Entrepreneur
For years, I hid part of myself away from my “professional” persona because I was afraid of judgment and misogyny. I’m unlearning this belief and replacing it with confidence.
When I’m not assisting clients and leading projects through Spark Content, I’m probably crocheting. I design and create tops and dresses, mostly worn by women.
I haven’t shared my Spirit and Thread Crochet identity with many professional peers in the past, because I feared that if others knew I designed and modeled clothes for young women I’d be perceived as “less professional” in my industry. I’m beginning to think that was my own internalized patriarchy controlling the narrative…
Now I know that my experience transforming my hobby into an internationally recognized business is a powerful asset I can leverage to serve my clients. Through Spirit and Thread Crochet, I became a successful social media marketer, an innovative event planner, a vibrant storyteller, and an optimistic entrepreneur. And honestly, it’s been the adventure of a lifetime.
We are complex beings with passions, interests, and identities beyond our 9-5 role. If you are on a similar journey of learning and growing, I’d love to hear about it!
I was recently profiled by Canvas Rebel about my crochet journey. To learn more, read this article.
